Shawn Kelly grew up in Glendale, California in an artistic family. Her parents instilled a deep appreciation for the arts, so museums, concerts, galleries, artist openings and art “happenings” were frequent family outings. Her father Donald, an architect, taught her how to draw and paint. Her mother, Carol, was a professional choral singer.

She attended UCLA as a design major and transferred to Art Center in Pasadena, CA, earning a BFA in advertising design. She was an advertising agency art director in Los Angeles for many years, creating television and print advertising campaigns for such clients as Mattel Toys, American Express and Baskin-Robbins.

When Shawn and her husband Scott decided to start a family, she became a stay-at-home mom to their three children. She started drawing again when the kids were in school, and also founded a graphic design studio.

Today she balances her time between drawing portraits for clients and creating graphic design for businesses. You can view her design portfolio here.  Following in her mother’s footsteps, she also sings with some of her best friends in a womens’ vocal group called Monday@JoJo’s. She also enjoys traveling, hiking and reading. She and Scott host travelers from all over the world at their Airbnb in the Los Angeles area.
